SAG Awards: Get Inspired

SAG Awards header

Whilst we were sleeping on Sunday night, the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in Los Angeles, playing host to some of our favourite stars, whose gowns flooded social media, which we admittedly checked before even getting out of bed on Monday morning. Although we mere mortals may not have swanky award shows to attend, we’ve rounded up our best picks so you can integrate these A-list touches into your everyday wardrobe.

Our favourite look of the night had to be Claire Danes’ stunning khaki number from Marc Jacobs. Although it is floor length and fabulous, quirky elements such as the hardware belt and side-embellishment assure it doesn’t get lost in the sea of satin awards shows usually bring our way. Here’s how we interpreted the trends:

Khaki is one of the key colours this spring but it doesn’t have to be cargo shorts to be casual, try this floral top worn with basics or if you’re feeling brave, mix your prints but keep accessories to a minimum. Nude accessories keep the look from appearing too busy whilst a dash of colour in contrasting turquoise in your jewellery and on your nails is the perfect attention to detail.

Claire’s halter neckline may not be the best for broad shoulders, but twisted shoulder straps or draped sleeves work just as well to add a touch of glamour to any look. Something we can all do is cinch in our waists with a utility-style D-ring belt like this one; an unexpected addition that is hugely on trend this season.

Whilst we might not all be comfortable flashing our tums, you can choose to show off your best feature whether that be your legs, arms or décolletage. These ankle-grazing trousers paired with low cut nude courts are the perfect way to lengthen your legs even during the cold weather and will look wonderful with culottes come spring.

So, how will you be wearing this khaki colour palette?
